The Assistant General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer will focus on building and establishing our legal, regulatory, and compliance frameworks, with a key focus on insurance licensure matters and negotiating and facilitating complex commercial and healthcare transactions with A Medical Group's customers, vendors and strategic partners. Our Assistant General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer will be a skilled operator who brings commercial expertise, is willing to tackle a wide range of legal issues, and is ready to partner cross-functionally on initiatives that influence all aspects of our growing business.

Our Assistant General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer will be responsible for:
  • Providing day-to-day strategic counseling on a broad range of healthcare regulatory matters, including commercial health insurance regulation, healthcare delivery regulation, privacy, provider agreements, value-based care, and marketing
  • Assisting in the development and collection of information and materials in support of a de novo insurance license application
  • Drafting, structuring, and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including master service agreements, statements of work, provider and payer agreements, collaboration agreements, data transfer agreements, nondisclosure agreements, and other agreements for and with clients, partners, and vendors in a manner that helps to achieve business objectives while at the same time protecting legal, regulatory, IP, and other risks
  • Managing outside counsel to advise on health insurance and healthcare delivery regulatory matters
  • Proactively identifying the need for, and assisting with the creation of, new or improved contract templates for common transactions
  • Representing legal perspective on cross-functional teams, including demonstrating leadership, identifying legal issues and considerations, evaluating possible options and solutions, and providing recommendations for addressing critical issues so that business and legal objectives are met
  • Strategic planning and operational leadership pertaining to compliance and regulatory issues as well as oversight of the enterprise wide comprehensive compliance program that exceeds the regulatory agencies requirements.
  • Compliance, audit, fraud waste and abuse programs, and accreditation.
  • Serving as the HIPAA Privacy Officer and overseeing all privacy compliance programs, including related reports and activities.
  • Health policy interpretation and communication to business owners; certifications and licensures.
  • Overseeing collaboration with other leaders and departments to assure Compliance requirements and organizational objectives and targets are successfully achieved

Successful Assistant General Counsels and Chief Compliance Officers will have:
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States
  • 10+ years of experience practicing law in the United States
  • Prior work experience in the healthcare industry (including experience negotiating complex commercial agreements with healthcare delivery and/or health insurance companies)
  • Experience with federal and/or state health care regulations, specifically commercial health insurance laws and regulation, and experience working to obtain health insurance licensure
  • Experience handling privacy and data security matters in commercial contracts
  • Extensive background in drafting provider-payer agreements, service agreements, license agreements, partnership agreements, and NDAs
  • An understanding of the practical legal concerns involved in commercial, health care, and technology transactions
  • Excellent negotiation skills to apply to complex transactions and customer discussions
  • The ability to lead, manage and prioritize competing transactions and other projects from inception to completion in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • A compelling and verifiable track record of success as a strategic thinker and builder in a high-growth, start-up setting
  • The ability to work effectively with and influence across functional units at all levels in the organization, as well as with external parties
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain positive work relationships to effectively interface at all levels across the organization
  • Excellent communication skills with a business acumen and the ability to consistently meet or exceed project deadlines
