Description:

A Nonprofit & Tax-exempt Law Firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join our DC-based law firm.

About the role:
We are looking for an associate attorney (minimum 4 years' experience) to work on a wide variety of matters for our nonprofit clients – which include 501(c)(3), (c)(4), and (c)(6) and other exempt organizations. Work will consist largely of research, legal analysis, drafting of memos and opinions, reviewing leases and contracts, setting up new organizations and preparing for exemptions, and attending meetings as general/antitrust counsel. The firm values a willingness to work hard in a team-oriented setting, but with independence and “ownership” of projects. We expect significant client contact and some business travel will be required in the future. A hybrid work from home schedule may be possible after an initial probationary period.

About You:
Qualified candidates will be motivated self-starters with strong academic credentials; effective communication and strong writing skills (contracts, correspondence, memos, etc.); a commitment to excellence; a desire to develop relationships with new and existing clients; the ability ultimately to manage transactions independently; experience with legal research; and a strong interest in personal professional development. Candidates must have the ability to learn and master new specialties, particularly in the area of nonprofit law.

A Nonprofit & Tax-exempt Law Firm is a boutique firm whose culture discourages excessive internal meetings and multiple levels of oversight. Candidates must be successful working independently, confident asking questions, and efficient seeking solutions. The firm's culture affords opportunities for professional development as attorneys gain more substantive experience via participation in industry conferences, events and associations; significant client contact and responsibility; and independence in management and oversight of projects.
