The ideal candidate will have a strong background in competition law, regulation, and policy globally, with a proven track record of driving competition strategy, handling competition inquiries and matters of all sizes, interfacing with regulators and policymakers, and providing practical business-minded advice on competition risks. Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive competition strategy that aligns with the technology, product, and services An AI Safety and Research Company is building and our overall company goals
- Manage competition inquiries globally
- Provide expert legal advice on competition matters
- Represent the company with key regulators and policymakers
- Stay abreast of emerging legal and regulatory developments in the competition landscape
- Build systems and processes to support regulatory engagement and inquiries
- Flex to support other litigation and regulatory matters as needed
- Have a J.D., membership in one U.S. state bar, and 8+ years of legal experience, including in-house experience at a technology company
- Have deep knowledge and extensive experience advising on competition, including handling regulatory inquiries and investigations
- Are a strategic thinker with sound business judgment who can balance legal and business considerations
- Have excellent leadership, communication, influencing and stakeholder management abilities
- Are comfortable with ambiguity
- Approach your work with a blend of humility and confidence, understanding that every contribution matters in a high-growth startup environment
- Have prior experience working at a regulatory agency
- Have prior litigation experience
- Have previously built sustainable regulatory or litigation processes
