The Opportunity:
As we continue to expand and transform the primary care experience, we're looking for talent to support the work that makes A Membership-Based Primary Care Practice and Amazon Health Services unique. We are looking for a Healthcare Transactions and Technology Counsel to join our Legal team. This role involves supporting the strategic initiatives involving Marketing, Operations and Technology teams as well as transactions of various flavors, including service agreements, marketing arrangements, and partnerships, some of which involve data processing.

The successful candidate has strong legal fundamentals, with experience supporting transactions, healthcare operations, and health tech. You are knowledgeable about common issues in healthcare, including data protection and fraud, waste and abuse. In addition, you are responsive to clients and colleagues, and have a bias for action whenever appropriate. In guiding your clients, you are able to transform complex information into clear, actionable advice, and possess the business savvy to demonstrate thoughtful pragmatism and a solutions oriented mindset. Through sound judgment, you will support diverse client needs in an adaptable and situationally appropriate manner. What you'll likely work on:
  • Proactively work with the Marketing, Operations, and Tech teams on projects to spot legal issues and drive solutions; provide consultative support on day to day needs;
  • Coordinate and consult with Legal colleagues to account for multiple legal perspectives and provide clients with broadly scoped legal advice.
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of agreements, including strategic partnerships, license agreements, service agreements, and marketing agreements.
  • Draft and negotiate data sharing arrangements, such as BAAs, in alignment with company legal obligations and business objectives.
  • Advise and educate internal clients on issues pertinent to healthcare initiatives to inform their decision making and execution.
  • Collaborate with Legal and cross-functional colleagues to obtain stakeholder input and alignment to drive forward progress.

What You'll Need:
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and an active member in good standing with the Bar in any state.
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience.
  • 3+ years of transactional experience.
  • 6+ years of legal practice experience, with at least 2 years in the healthcare context.
  • A mixture of law firm and in-house experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory issues such as the Anti-Kickback Statute, Civil Monetary Penalties Law, and HIPAA. Knowledge about value-based care a plus.
  • Strong team orientation that facilitates communication and cooperation across teams and functions.
  • Sound judgment on when and how to escalate issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
