We're currently seeking a Corporate Counsel who will work directly with our General Counsel and assist with a broad range of real estate matters in a fast-paced environment at a leading multi-family real estate investment trust.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase agreements and related documents in connection with the acquisition or disposition of multi-family assets
  • Represent and advise IRT in complex real estate joint-venture transactions
  • Plan and coordinate due diligence for all real estate transactions
  • Ensure compliance with a wide range of property level and corporate financing. Assist with the assumption, payoff, defeasance, or pledge of assets in connection with debt financing
  • Manage other real estate matters as needed, including easements, license agreements, zoning issues and other issues related to IRT's multifamily portfolio
  • Provide supervision to outside lawyers hired to assist the corporation with their specialized legal services
  • Draft, review, and negotiate miscellaneous contracts, including service contracts, NDAs, construction contracts, with a focus on privacy laws, indemnification and insurance provisions
  • Draft corporate policies and procedures/oversee compliance of such policies

Qualifications:
  • Possess 5-7 years experience overall
  • Previous experience overseeing similar responsibilities within a similar industry preferred but not required
  • Experience working with real estate joint ventures desired
  • Prior in-house experience is a plus
  • Strong commitment to quality of service and quality of work is required
  • Ability to be a reliable and positive team player is a must
  • Must be highly organized, detail oriented and able to work on multiple tasks at a time
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time
