The Role:
An American Multinational Semiconductor Company Law Department is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join the team supporting AMD's Technology & Engineering Organization (T&E) and Research & Advanced Development Organization (RAD), reporting to the Director of Legal for T&E and RAD. You will work in a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where you will primarily support technology and intellectual property transactions, counsel engineering and R&D clients, develop legal guidelines, and collaborate with attorneys and paralegals in support of AMD's engineering and R&D functions.

The Person:
  • Ability to work with clients and colleagues in Legal at all levels to achieve a common goal while taking into consideration both legal and business issues.
  • Ability to work independently on complex issues requiring in-depth analysis and evaluation of intangibles.
  • Self-starter who can work as a team with the clients, paralegals, and other attorneys to find creative ways to solve problems to achieve goals for the company.
  • Understands when it is appropriate to escalate issues.
  • Make sound judgments and recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues in Legal.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize workload and competing priorities.
  • Efficient, effective, and well organized and enjoys learning about cutting-edge technology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drafting, negotiating, and client counseling related to technology and intellectual property transactions and associated legal issues.
  • Working closely with engineering and R&D professionals to help achieve their business and technical objectives.
  • Reviewing legal issues related to the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence solutions and developing associated legal guidelines.
  • Developing and delivering training to clients regarding legal and compliance issues.
  • Coordinating with various internal functions, including Engineering, R&D, and Finance, in support of business activities.

Preferred Experience:
  • A junior attorney with 3+ years law firm and/or in-house experience.
  • Experience in technology transactions, artificial intelligence solutions, and intellectual property law.
  • Experience working with various levels from senior leaders to individual contributors in engineering and R&D functions.
  • Experience in the semiconductor or computing industry is preferred.

Academic Credentials
Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent and admission to practice law in a U.S. state.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or equivalent experience in the semiconductor industry is preferred.
