One of The Largest Independent Liquid Petroleum Products Pipeline Operators is currently seeking a Counsel – Commercial & Regulatory with law firm and/or comparable experience in a corporate legal position to join our team.

Role Summary:
The Counsel – Commercial & Regulatory role is responsible for assisting the Legal Department in providing legal services to One of The Largest Independent Liquid Petroleum Products Pipeline Operators and its affiliates.

Responsibilities & Essential Functions include:
  • Legal Advice: Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on a wide range of legal issues, including, but not limited to, commercial contracts, employment matters, finance matters, real estate transactions, dispute resolution, and corporate governance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, and assist in developing and administering compliance programs and policies.
  • Legal Policies and Goals. Participate in administering company legal policies, goals and objectives.
  • Legal Issue Resolution. Identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations and assure legal compliance.
  • Drafting and Reviewing Legal Documents: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, leases, and other legal documents.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Identify potential legal risks and liabilities and develop strategies to mitigate or manage those risks effectively.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with clients, colleagues, other attorneys, experts, and stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration in legal matters.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Position Requirements:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • 2-5 years relevant experience with a law firm (preferably in energy-related practice) and/or comparable experience in a relevant, corporate legal position.
  • Travel Requirements: up to 25%

Certificates & Licenses:
Must be licensed to practice law.

Essential Functions:

Safety and Physical Requirements:
The person in this position needs to occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc.
