Role Purpose:
The Counsel, Intellectual Property will partner with technology organizations across all An American Mass Media and Entertainment Conglomerate Company businesses in creating, capturing and protecting innovation. They will support the legal elements of the An American Mass Media and Entertainment Conglomerate Company Patent Program and the Parks Patent Program.

Job Duties:
  • Partner with AI Acceleration, emerging technologies and engineering teams to develop IP strategies and pursue patents on critical technologies
  • Help develop An American Mass Media and Entertainment Conglomerate Company's patent position in strategic technology areas by coordinating legal aspects of invention harvesting and evaluation processes including prior art search and analysis
  • Manage drafting, filing, prosecution and maintenance of U.S. and non-U.S. patents by outside counsel and internally as needed
  • Educate engineers on technology-related patent issues and legal issues around patenting AI-related inventions
  • Support patent risk assessment analyses for key emerging products
  • Help manage patent portfolio legal budget and other patent metrics and data
  • Other matters as needed

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
  • Member in good standing of the California State Bar or another State Bar and registered as in-house counsel
  • USPTO Registered Patent Practitioner in good standing
  • JD or LLM degree from an accredited law school
  • 4+ years of patent-related law firm or in-house work experience
  • Science background preferred

  • Drafted 25 or more patent applications
  • Experience managing international patent portfolios in territories such as Europe, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, UAE, Canada and South Korea

This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week
