Join the dynamic legal team at A Dental Insurance Company as a Corporate Legal Counsel. This integral role supports our company's critical initiatives in a collaborative team environment. As an attorney in our Legal department, you'll safeguard Delta Dental's interests by gathering information, evaluating options, preparing legal positions, providing counsel, and advising leadership on recommended courses of action. Your expertise will help drive the company forward, ensuring compliance and fostering growth.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and assistance to help the company maximize growth and uphold corporate values in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Research, analyze, and stay updated on laws, regulations, and court decisions affecting the company and the dental benefits industry.
  • Empower business solutions that avoid legal challenges and compliance issues.
  • Develop, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts.
  • Leverage legal expertise to execute projects and initiatives under the direction of a practice group leader or other functional leadership.
  • Escalate complex legal questions or risks to practice group leaders or senior counsels as needed to explore potential legal solutions, as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Law degree with 3+ years of legal experience in a regulatory or transactions-oriented role at a law firm or in-house environment; healthcare or benefits experience is preferred.
  • Strong ability to educate through written and verbal communication, bringing clarity and insights to clients and translating complex legal matters into relatable terms.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Capable of organizing and prioritizing work independently while meeting multiple deadlines, with general instruction.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in both thinking style and work approach.
  • Strong analytical and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent listening and observational skills.
  • Proficient in using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
