We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Tax Attorney to join our legal team. The Tax Attorney will be responsible for providing strategic tax advice, conducting tax research, and representing clients in tax-related matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance issues, with the ability to navigate complex tax issues effectively. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Tax Advisory Services:
    • Provide expert tax advice and counsel to clients on a wide range of tax matters, including federal, state, and international taxation.
    • Advise clients on tax implications of business transactions, estate planning, and investment strategies.
    • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize benefits for clients.
  • Tax Planning and Compliance:
    • Assist clients in tax planning initiatives, including structuring transactions and entities to achieve tax optimization.
    • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
    • Prepare and review tax returns, filings, and disclosures as necessary.
  • Tax Controversy and Litigation:
    • Represent clients in tax audits, administrative proceedings, and litigation before tax authorities and courts.
    • Negotiate settlements and resolutions with tax authorities on behalf of clients.
    • Advocate for clients' interests and defend positions on tax matters effectively.
  • Client Counseling and Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing proactive and responsive legal services.
    • Communicate complex tax concepts and strategies clearly and effectively to clients and stakeholders.
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership:
    • Collaborate with colleagues across legal and financial teams to provide integrated solutions to clients' tax issues.
    • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal staff as needed.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar and in good standing.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience practicing as a Tax Attorney, with a focus on tax advisory, planning, and controversy/litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience in tax research, analysis, and compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
