Job Duties:
The successful candidate will provide a full range of legal services to assigned agencies and institutions of the Commonwealth relating to public finance, charitable trusts and government operations. Responsibilities include representation of assigned agencies in state court and/or ensuring that appropriate counsel is retained to represent the clients' interests in litigation. In addition, the successful candidate will review claims against the Commonwealth that name the Comptroller as a party, as well as legislation relating to the Commonwealth's finance agencies. This position also assists the Attorney General with his statutory and common law authority with respect to charitable assets.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Applicants will have excellent analytical abilities and written and oral communication skills and the ability to respond to legal requests in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are also required.
  • Candidates must be highly organized and detail-oriented and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as a team player in covering the work of others when the situation demands.
  • Must be admitted to the Virginia State Bar or eligible for immediate admission.
