Job Duties:
The position requires extensive knowledge of the state and federal criminal justice systems and state government, and offers a unique and challenging experience for a highly motivated attorney: the opportunity to handle their own caseload in which the incumbent will work in conjunction with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in the investigation and prosecution of state and federal offenses. Prosecutions will primarily focus on violent crime and firearm offenses and may include drug trafficking, sex-trafficking, and money-laundering. The position requires the ability to analyze and provide concise, appropriate, practical and accurate advice on legal issues. The position provides legal advice to key Virginia agencies. Additionally, the position is responsible for assisting in the review and drafting of official advisory opinions of the Attorney General and reviewing legislation during sessions of the Virginia General Assembly.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Applicants must be a United States citizen,
  • Graduated from an accredited law school,
  • Be admitted to the Virginia State Bar or be eligible for admission,
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills and good judgment,
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills,
  • Ability to analyze and manage complex cases.
