Our innovative Northern New York Family Law Firm is hiring a Senior Associate to join a practice that approaches Family Law in a healthy, collaborative way. Our owner has 29 years of experience re-inventing the landscape of Family Law to improve outcomes for parents and children. This is a hybrid position, that does require in-person appearances at mediation, meetings, and court appearances in these New York State Counties: Clinton, Essex, and Warren. Outside of those responsibilities, daily work location is flexible.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws
  • Prepare legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, notices, and discovery requests/responses
  • Counsel associates to resolve or prevent conflicts
  • Represent clients in court to argue motions during legal proceedings
  • Anticipate, prepare for, and attend trials, mediation, and arbitration on behalf of clients

As our Firm's Senior Associate, you will exercise independence in devising legal strategies, providing excellent legal representation to our clients, and serving as a leader to our team. To be a key player on our team, you must be dedicated to excellence and hard work, and experience with a top-tier practice in Family Law and Litigation matters.

In this role, you will assume full responsibility for the Firm's legal production pipeline—from Legal Strategy Sessions to the delivery of work to the client. You will also oversee and manage the legal team and support staff and ensure all legal work is completed efficiently, accurately, and on time.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience advocating for clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal skills are required, as well as persuasive writing and verbal communication skills
  • Completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree, as well as 3-year law degree from an accredited law school
  • Five years of experience as a senior associate in the legal industry
  • Member of state and local bar associations in good standing

Additional job requirements are:
  • You must have courtroom litigation experience with a track record of success
  • You must be available for in-person appearances at mediations, meetings, and court proceedings in these New York Counties: Clinton, Essex, and Warren. Outside of those responsibilities, daily work location is flexible.

  • You are confident, flexible, growth-minded, and comfortable in a management role
  • You have or are willing to take the following advanced training: Certified Divorce Specialist™ training, 30 hours of basic Mediation training, and 15 hours of Interdisciplinary Collaborative Divorce training
  • You are licensed in New York and have a clean professional discipline record

You must be good with basic legal technology; specifically:
  • Microsoft Office
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Westlaw
  • Ooma
  • Google Workspace Suite
  • Dropbox.
  • Familiarity with Clio Grow, Clio Manage, and Family Law Software is a plus
