A Leasing Real Estate Company is looking for an Associate General Counsel to join our home office team.

Position Summary:
The Associate General Counsel position is responsible for representing the organization on a variety of legal matters as assigned. This position will provide meaningful contributions to the execution of the Legal Department's core services and functions including general business and health care law while providing legal counsel to managers and operational field team members on a variety of multi-state legal matters.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides advice and support on a broad range of business and transaction matters.
  • Provides research, analysis, counsel and guidance on a variety of legal issues. Protects the Company and its affiliates against legal risks and violations.
  • Prepare appropriate legal documents for the Company and its affiliates.
  • Assists with regulatory research, policy review and implementation.
  • Works closely with internal and external clients while resolving legal issues on a multi-state level.
  • Acts as a primary point of contact for operational legal support to field operations. Assists with plans of correction, interpretation of company policies and state regulations, approval of media talking points, review of medical record requests and guidance to field operations when reportable events occur.
  • Reviews and approves advertising copy, proposed sales and marketing programs and public statements from a legal standpoint.
  • Drafts or collaborates with other departments on new and revised company policies.
  • Studies proposed and existing state and federal legislation.
  • Coordinates the discharge process for all company communities, including Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. Works closely with the collections team on all financial discharges and the legal operations team on all other discharges. Drafts discharge letters, drafts, negotiating settlements and works with local counsel on collections and evictions.
  • Assist in the defense of claims and litigation engaging in the discovery process.
  • Negotiates settlements with third parties, including residents/families.
  • Identifies and assesses legal risk and opportunities within the organization and advises accordingly.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members and other colleagues.
  • Manages outside counsel.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Prepare and file, as appropriate, documents for the formation and operation of business entities, such as corporations, limited liability companies, etc.
  • Responsibilities may include drafting various agreements, including employment agreements, professional services agreements, transaction agreements, and other business agreements.
  • Provide internal support for legal proceedings including in-depth understanding of the organization's operations and interrelationships.
  • Provide immediate answers frequently from accumulated knowledge and experience without the opportunity to research the law where feasible.

Education, Training, and Experience:
  • Five + Years of Related, Demonstrated Experience with Emphasis in Corporate and Regulatory Law Within the Healthcare Industry And/or Senior Care Industry.
  • Juris Doctorate Degree.
  • State licensure in good standing; eligible for Florida corporate counsel licensure.
