Job Description:
A National Title Insurance and Settlement Services Company is seeking a Title Insurance Agency and Operations Counsel (Vice President and Associate General Counsel) . This is a remote position and the candidate can be located in any state. This position is responsible for researching and analyzing state and Federal laws and regulations that impact title insurers and title insurance agents. This position is also responsible for drafting agency agreements, amendments and termination notices. Additional responsibilities for this position include:
  • Research regulatory standards and compliance.
  • Ensure company and agent compliance with all local, state, and Federal regulations and laws.
  • Process licensing applications and filings.
  • Assist with state required filings.
  • Analyze regulatory impact and provide creative solutions when necessary.
  • Communicate policy changes to agents and employees.
  • Maintain information database or repository of state and national requirements of title insurance and settlement regulations.
  • Represent company in dealings with government agencies, including Departments of Insurance.
  • Interact with actuaries to produce state level rate justifications.
  • Draft contracts, amendments, cancellations.
  • Annual reporting to state regulatory departments.
  • Participate in industry organizations.
  • Coordinate reporting with third party vendors.
  • Informational updates to business leaders.
  • Special project tasks as assigned.
  • Coordinate research and other projects with other employees.
  • Assist or manage regulatory investigations.

Qualifications:
  • JD from an ABA accredited school.
  • Licensed, in good standing, with no record of discipline, in at least one state.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in title insurance or a related industry.
  • Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced computer and Microsoft Office skills.
