About the role:
A Global Commercial Real Estate Services Company is seeking to hire an employment law attorney with strong experience in complex employment contracting or M&A to join its Legal team as Counsel. The position will be based in Dallas or Chicago and report to the Assistant General Counsel, Strategic Transactions.

This Job is part of the Legal Services Job function. They are responsible for providing legal counsel and guidance in the ordinary and special activities of the organization.

What You'll Do:
  • Partner with executives and managers to structure, draft and lead negotiations on complex employment agreements with commissioned employees.
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to executives, managers, and human resources on a wide range of employment issues and policies relating to recruiting, retention, termination, wage and hour, discrimination, accommodations, leave, and other relevant topics. Provide support on employment-law related claims, litigation, and internal investigations.
  • Advise on structure and enforceability of restrictive covenants and protection of trade secrets and proprietary information.
  • Prepare and conduct training on issues relating to compensation, restrictive covenants, and other employment issues.
  • Monitor changes in law impacting employee compensation, restrictive covenants, and related employment issues.
  • Respond promptly to the business while delivering efficient and high-quality legal service.
  • Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned.

  • Juris Doctorate and Member of State Bar in good standing required with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work without supervision, manage many tasks, and set priorities with excellent follow-up skills and organization.
  • Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements (experience with executive agreements in the context of mergers and acquisitions and senior executive recruiting preferred).
  • Ability to explain, negotiate, and draft complex compensation formulas. Strong financial acumen.
