Job Purpose:
Legal Counsel, Supply Chain will be directly responsible to the Senior Legal Counsel of Supplier Contracting. Legal Counsel will partner with and support A French-American, UK-Domiciled Global Oil and Gas Company's Global Sourcing and Procurement organization to negotiate and execution contracts. Legal Counsel must be able to provide timely and informed support to key internal stakeholders at all levels within the organization, including Global Sourcing and Procurement, Compliance, Data Privacy and Security, Legal Leadership Team, Finance, Insurance, Sales, Manufacturing, and Projects.

Job Description:
  • Serve as a regional counsel and lead a small team of contract professionals.
  • Assist the Global Sourcing and Procurement team in negotiating supplier contracts by reviewing and approving contract deviations.
  • Provide succinct error free legal advice.
  • Provide legal support on special-purpose and strategic agreements.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on basic legal and contracts concepts.
  • Ensure important company initiatives are communicated to insure compliance.
  • Contribute to internal stakeholder's business strategy by proposing and implementing creative solutions that further business objectives while minimizing or mitigating risk.
  • Analyze contractual risks and provide advice to internal stakeholders on ways to mitigate identified risks.
  • Assist in the development of strategies and processes to achieve contracting efficiencies.
  • Maintain exceptional working relationships with team members and stakeholders.
  • Lead training initiatives for internal stakeholders, including developing course content.
  • With Senior Legal Counsel in providing legal advice and counsel to VP/Directors of Sourcing & Procurement.

You are meant for this job if:
  • 5 years legal experience with a JD (or equivalent) and be a member of a state bar association. Must be a member in good standing of a US bar association, preference given to Texas licensed attorneys.
  • Must be self-motivated, with proven experience working independently, starting and finishing tasks without requiring assistance.
  • Possess and demonstrate exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Fluent in English, with conversational proficiency in Spanish, preferred.
  • Extensive experience negotiating key legal contract clauses, preference given to those who have worked in the oil and gas industry or for project engineering services company.
  • Demonstrate effective knowledge, leadership, and motivation to thrive in a dynamic business environment, with the ability to comfortably operate and perform within a matrix organization.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, project, and presentation software.
