With one of the state's largest natural resources practices, A California Law Firm has built a solid reputation as a leader in water, environmental, and natural resources law. Its attorneys counsel clients on compliance strategies and regularly appear in some of the most complex resources disputes in the west. The firm is seeking a midlevel associate attorney with 2 to 7 years of experience to join its Natural Resources Practice Group in Sacramento or San Francisco. This position involves representation of public and private-sector clients statewide in a broad range of environmental matters.

The candidate should have experience in compliance counseling, regulatory permitting, and/or administrative enforcement, and/or environmental litigation in state and/or federal courts (including claims assessment, discovery, law and motion practice, and preparation of administrative records). Knowledge in the areas of CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Water Act, the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Fish & Game Code, endangered species, and/or related fields is desired.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent analytical skills, and an attention to detail. The candidate should be a self-starter who enjoys client and matter responsibilities and challenging natural resources assignments within a legislative and regulatory landscape that changes often. A distinguished academic record, as well as exceptional research and writing skills, are required.
