Position Overview:
Patent Agents at A Global Law Firm are responsible for managing valuable patent assets and assessing patent risk for our clients. Patent Agents work under the supervision and guidance of partners in the firm's Intellectual Property practice and perform a variety of patent-related activities, primarily in the areas of patent prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, and due diligence work.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with clients on innovative and cutting-edge technologies to procure patent protection and build IP portfolios.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications on behalf of clients
  • Provide support for due-diligence, landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate analysis, and validity assessment arising from collaboration with industry partners.
  • Support patent litigation
  • Draft responses to rejection of a patent application for an invention from the United States Patent and Trademark Office and other worldwide Patent Offices

  • Proven project management, organizational, and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure with flexibility and adaptability to changing work priorities, work flow and work assignments
  • Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate projects as needed
  • Ability to think creatively, using good judgment and decision-making capabilities

Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may serve as a coach for other positions.

Travel:
Minimal travel required for this role.

Education/Experience/Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum of two(2) years' experience in patent prosecution preferred but will consider all well-qualified candidates
  • Industry experience (or equivalent) in the field of Artificial Intelligence preferred
  • Registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
