Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Patent Prosecutor to join our Intellectual Property team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and prosecuting patent applications, ensuring the protection of our clients' intellectual property. The role requires a deep understanding of patent law, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work closely with inventors, engineers, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patent Application Preparation: Draft and file high-quality patent applications, including provisional, non-provisional, and international (PCT) applications. Ensure that applications are complete, accurate, and strategically sound.
  • Patent Prosecution: Manage all aspects of patent prosecution before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent offices. Respond to office actions, conduct examiner interviews, and handle appeals and reexaminations.
  • Prior Art Searches: Conduct thorough prior art searches to assess the patentability of inventions. Analyze search results and provide recommendations to inventors and clients.
  • Client Communication: Work closely with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand inventions, gather necessary information, and provide regular updates on the status of patent applications.
  • Legal Research: Stay current with changes in patent laws and regulations, both domestically and internationally. Conduct legal research to support patent prosecution and provide strategic advice.
  • Portfolio Management: Assist in managing and strategizing the patent portfolio to align with business objectives. Identify opportunities for filing new patent applications and maintaining existing patents.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other members of the IP team, including patent attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff, to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality output.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and mentorship to junior team members and support their professional development in patent prosecution.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and a Bachelor's or advanced degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., engineering, computer science, chemistry, biology).
  • Licensure: Admission to the state bar and registration to practice before the USPTO.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in patent prosecution, including experience with patent application drafting and prosecution before the USPTO and international patent offices.
