Description/Job Summary
The Practice Intelligence Lawyer will work closely with the KM Lawyers for the Mergers & Acquisitions practice to support the group's thought leadership and knowledge management needs..

The Practice Intelligence Lawyer's primary responsibility will be the direct review and input of deal terms into the Firm's knowledge management system (i.e. Litera Foundation Firm Intelligence Platform). The Practice Intelligence Lawyer will also support the KM Lawyers in monitoring key legal developments, preparing client alerts and memoranda, designing highly visual reports and dashboards, producing analysis on key data points for internal and external use, and improving the efficiency of data collection efforts by optimizing the use of technology.

Responsibilities/Duties:
Knowledge Management
  • Input matter profiles into Foundation on a timely basis, and ensure full matter profiles reflect legal and business terms accurately
  • Work with practicing attorneys to determine which matters should be profiled and identify matter attributes and data points that should be tracked
  • Review deal documents and input legal and business terms of M&A and other related matters in Foundation
  • Work with the KM Lawyers to create, develop, organize, update and maintain forms, precedents, checklists, data points, closing sets and other work product and substantive content for the group, ensuring such content is continuously up-to-date, and leveraged by attorneys
  • Provide other knowledge support to the practice group as may be assigned by the practice group heads, Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer, KM Lawyers or KM Director
  • Support the KM Lawyers in collaborating with the Data Analytics team to evaluate and implement technology and artificial intelligence applications that support the practice group's data collection efforts
  • Together with the KM Lawyers, identify opportunities to improve or add to Foundation, related systems and data integration sources

Market and Client Insights
  • Keep abreast of key legal and market developments of interest to the practice group and its clients
  • Prepare practice group and client alerts and memoranda, and other thought leadership materials
  • Produce insightful analysis and post-deal assessments, benchmarking and market trend reports leveraging Foundation data for internal audiences and client presentations
  • Support the KM Lawyers in collaborating with the Data Analytics team to design and maintain highly visual reports and dashboards that surface quantitative insights in forms that are fit-for-purpose, modern and accessible

Required Experience:
Minimum of five years of experience in mergers and acquisitions practice

Required Education:
J.D. or equivalent
