We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated privacy lawyer to join our fast growing legal team as Privacy Counsel. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth, fast-paced leading payments fintech at the cutting edge of the digital transformation. In this role, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the A Cloud-Based Software Provider Company family of companies, including Customer Support, Information Security, Data Analytics, Data Infrastructure and Engineering, and Product, to incorporate privacy into everything we do, while providing practical, innovative, and scalable solutions to new and challenging questions. This role reports to the Director, Privacy.

Responsibilities:
  • You will work within a fast-paced, collaborative team that?values humor, initiative, and teamwork.
  • Support the Privacy Team's mission to maintain a culture of privacy at A Cloud-Based Software Provider Company family of companies, comply with privacy laws worldwide, and put our customers first.
  • Play a key role in the development of an enterprise-wide privacy, AI and data governance program, including privacy operations and documentation; employee training; AI guidelines, policy enforcement, monitoring and auditing; and incident response. Ensure the program's ongoing, consistent and efficient operation.
  • Serve as a strategist and critical thought-partner to our product development teams across the Company in their day-to-day efforts to create the next generation of financial platforms, tools, and services.
  • Analyze and help operationalize new privacy and AI laws and standards.
  • Provide guidance internally on new legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Draft and review privacy and data protection agreements with vendors and partners.
  • Draft external privacy notices and disclosures, and manage/update internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with global laws bearing on privacy and cybersecurity.
  • Advise business and engineering teams regarding new product development, privacy by design techniques, and data governance.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of Company systems that include personal data, and stay informed about updates and modifications to these systems.

We'd love to chat if you have:
  • 4-8 years of combined, relevant experience in law firms, governmental agencies, and/or in-house legal departments.
  • Ability to provide pragmatic and actionable advice to clients on various legal risks and obligations under privacy and data security laws in the U.S. Experience with international privacy laws (Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and the United Kingdom) a plus.
  • Fluency translating complex legal requirements and advice into actionable guidance for innovative product, engineering, InfoSec, and business teams.
  • Ability to engage in detailed analysis of data-driven products to understand and assess global privacy and other legal risks.
  • Technophilia, and a desire to learn and understand technology as well as you understand the law.

  • Creative thinker with strong communication and problem solving skills and the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously, with effective resolution of conflicting priorities.

  • A JD and active membership in at least one state bar.
