The Senior Counsel, U.S. Government Policy Legal, will be responsible for executing comprehensive legal strategies to build and implement federal and state policy initiatives to support access for An American Publicly Traded Biopharmaceutical Company products in the U.S. This role will focus on key external engagements for active policy shaping and external messaging strategy.

In addition, this role will participate in cross-functional engagements with related Legal, Government Affairs, Office of Ethics and Compliance (OEC), and/or business counterparts as needed to inform strategic initiatives or build cohesive An American Publicly Traded Biopharmaceutical Company strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of An American Publicly Traded Biopharmaceutical Company's business, company imperatives, and keep abreast of changes in laws and government policies that affect client areas.
  • Provide clear advice to Government Affairs and business clients on key federal and state laws, regulations, and policies, including the Inflation Reduction Act, Medicare and Medicaid laws, the Affordable Care Act, 340B, FDA regulations, OIG guidance, and others.
  • Work with legal department managers to resolve complex legal matters efficiently, and advise legal department managers of project developments in a timely manner.
  • Help direct the work of outside counsel and define project objectives, and manage projects.
  • Comply with applicable An American Publicly Traded Biopharmaceutical Company policies and procedures.
  • Work cross-functionally and find solutions for business clients consistent with the law, policies/procedures, and An American Publicly Traded Biopharmaceutical Company's Code of Conduct.

Qualifications:
  • Law degree from an ABA accredited law school and in good standing with the state bar of the jurisdiction in which your office will be located (or ability to gain licensure in the state in which your office will be located).
  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience practicing law, preferably in a law firm, the government, a trade association, and/or in house.
  • Preferred experience practicing law focused on legislative and/or regulatory policy issues in a health care, pharmaceutical, or related industry.
  • In-house government or trade association experience a plus.
