The legal affairs department, commercial law, of A Food & Beverage Manufacturing Company cooperative is called upon to act as a privileged partner of the various business units of the organization. What's involved in this role
  • Participate in the drafting, review and negotiation of various types of commercial contracts, including customer contracts, partnership contracts, supply contracts, distribution contracts, manufacturing contracts, service contracts, purchase or sale contracts, license contracts, lease contracts real estate, confidentiality agreements, etc.
  • Provide legal advice and opinions in various matters related to the activities of the cooperative, including in particular with regard to applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Handle and follow up on various litigation files, either internally or in collaboration with external lawyers.
  • Participate in the identification of risks and the development of legal solutions as part of special projects.
  • Collaborate, with other members of the legal affairs department, in organizing support for internal business units and improving processes (including the management of precedents and the provision of training).
  • Accomplish all other related tasks of a legal nature related to the activities of the cooperative.

What you need to join our team
  • Hold a Juris Doctorate Degree (JD) in Law from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to and good standing with a state bar, preferably in the jurisdiction where the company operates (Minnesota or Wisconsin).
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in commercial law acquired within a law firm and/or a corporate legal department.
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate with other lawyers in the legal department located in Canada on various files.
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions will be considered as an asset.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite software.
  • Ability to work with new technologies.
