A Full-Service Law Firm is currently seeking Attorneys with Claims Management & Coverage Counsel experience. The position is based in New York City, but we will consider additional locations for candidates with relevant experience. The position requires a licensed insurance adjustor, preferably in the states of California, Florida, Arizona, Washington or Texas.

This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys with insurance coverage and claims management experience who are interested in joining a growing, dynamic team as part of a national law firm. This role will collaborate with outside counsel on litigation strategies, but will not directly handle litigation.

The Position:
Qualifications:
  • JD from an accredited Law School
  • Licensed to practice law in the US, New York preferred
  • 3+ years of legal practice experience in the insurance area
  • Previous experience analyzing policies, drafting coverage letters and opinions a plus
  • Licensed insurance adjuster, preferably in the states of California, Florida, Arizona, Washington or Texas required
  • Superior written and oral communication skills required
  • Strong experience negotiating settlements
  • Excellent legal research skills required
  • Legal project management experience is helpful

Responsibilities:
  • Independently manage a claims caseload, working claims from beginning to end
  • Provide coverage, liability and damages analysis for complex professional liability, employment liability, and D&O matters
  • Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters
  • Negotiate to resolve matters, participate in mediations, and draft settlement agreements
  • Work closely with other attorneys and Partners on legal projects
  • Ability to regularly interface with clients, carriers and outside counsel
  • Communicate with clients and provide status reports
