Job Overview:
This role reports to the Assistant General Counsel for Supply Chain and serves as Counsel for TE's Global Supply Chain, including Procurement and Global Logistics. Corporate Procurement and Logistics serve as the centers of excellence for all TE business units globally.

In this key role with regional and global scope, you will also act as the interface between the Law Department and your internal clients from all over the world. You will serve as a point of contact for legal advice and risk management. The position requires you to assist with the development and maintenance of contract templates, and creation and negotiation of contracts and amendments with suppliers. You will also serve in an advisory capacity to business unit Legal Counsel relative to business unit owned contracts related to procurement, logistics warehousing and transportation services.

  • Legal Advice. Provide Guidance to Global Direct and Indirect Procurement Teams regarding (i) supplier relationships, including contractual needs in relation to possible liabilities/risks associated, (ii) the anticipation of disputes and negotiation of settlements, and (iii) assessment of legal/cross jurisdictional concerns. Serve as an advisor to business unit Legal Counsel regarding contracts related to procurement, logistics, warehousing, and transportation services. Provide legal guidance on complex contractual matters.
  • Contract Drafting, Review, and Negotiation. Drafting, negotiating and review of global, regional, and local procurement and logistics contract templates and agreements, including but not limited to master supply, master service, pricing, transportation, warehousing contracts, and other procurement related agreements. Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Contract Template Development. Assist in creating and maintaining contract templates to streamline processes. Join cross-functional teams to improve contract efficiency.
  • Strategic Impact through Projects. Working closely with intra-Department resources, and other internal clients in achieving strategic goals through continuous backing and development/work/implementation of ad hoc projects aiming at either assisting in generating savings or improving process efficiency.
  • Legal Policies. Assist in the draft of company policies and procedures related to supply chain and logistics, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Compliance Management. Support ESG and compliance activities, including Contract Basics, sourcing, social and environmental sustainability, etc.).
  • Claims Management. Manage claims matters and litigation matters (if any) and coordinate with outside counsel (if applicable).
  • Dispute Resolution. Manage disputes and provide guidance to management on the company exposure

What Your Background Should Look Like:
  • This role requires strong business acumen and the ability to work as a collaborative business partner across geographies, functions, and product lines to provide legal, policy, and strategic assistance to the business. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, while ensuring connectivity with stakeholders and teammates.
  • Law degree from an accredited U.S. law school and licensed to practice law
  • 5+ years of experience which can be satisfied through a mix of law firm and global in-house or experience
  • Extensive knowledge of contract laws.
  • Demonstrates an ability to communicate technical legal information clearly and in an easy-to-understand manner both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to develop strong relationships across multiple departments in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Ability to prioritize duties, work independently, understand different business cultures, and manage multiple matters from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Highest degree of personal and professional integrity and ethics
  • Fluency in English – knowledge of any other language is a plus.
