Job Summary:
The Associate Attorney will help with a high volume of litigation cases, working underneath a senior attorney on each assigned case. Tasks include drafting legal documents, conducting depositions, and performing legal research for each case. The ideal applicant has three or more years of litigation experience, preferably with practice in personal injury or medical negligence litigation. This candidate should be a self-starter with practical and technical experience, looking to enjoy the support and reputation of a respected firm.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Handles a variety of cases, including professional negligence, personal injury, and, occasionally, other areas of the law.
  • Prepares correspondence and legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings.
  • Conducts legal research, prepares for and attends hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provides legal counsel with the help of senior associate attorneys.
  • Analyzes conflicts in legal matters, advises clients on solutions, and negotiates on behalf of clients.
  • Communicates with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently.
  • Maintains client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is available for other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Interviews and deposes witnesses and further facilitates the discovery process.
  • Maintains knowledge of legal developments, including completion of continuing legal education.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in the state where the position is located.
  • Three or more years of litigation experience preferred; candidates with less litigation experience will be considered depending on qualifications.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
