Position Summary:
The Patent Attorney will play a crucial role in protecting A Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Company's intellectual property rights by drafting and prosecuting patent applications. This role's technical expertise and legal acumen will contribute to safeguarding innovations and inventions.

Core Functions:
  • Prepare and file patent applications with the United States and Foreign Patent Offices.
  • Collaborate with inventors and technical experts to understand inventions thoroughly.
  • Conduct prior art searches to assess patentability.
  • Draft clear and concise patent specifications.
  • Analyze patent portfolios, conduct freedom-to-operate analyses, and assess infringement risks.
  • Assist in due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and licensing transactions.
  • Assist in patent litigation cases, including infringement disputes.
  • Collaborate with litigation teams and expert witnesses.
  • Advise clients on patent strategies, portfolio management, and potential risks.
  • Understand clients' business needs and align patent strategies accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications & R Equirements
Education and Experience:
  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school required.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a patent attorney.
  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Familiarity with mechanical arts is preferred.

Required Licenses:
  • License to practice law in the State of Michigan and admitted to the US Patent Bar.
