Summary: The Senior Compliance Officer-Licensed Attorney will play a critical role in ensuring that our company adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will be a licensed attorney in the state of New York and have a strong background in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, and legal practice, with a specific focus on medical laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compliance Program Management: Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program to ensure adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Policy Development: Draft, review, and update compliance-related policies and procedures to ensure they reflect current regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Continuously monitor changes in federal, state, and local regulations that impact medical laboratory operations and ensure timely implementation of necessary changes.
  • Internal Audits: Conduct regular internal audits and risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and develop corrective action plans.
  • Training and Education: Design and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels to promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
  • Investigation and Reporting: Lead investigations into compliance violations, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Legal Advisory: Provide legal advice and support to the organization on compliance-related matters, including contract review, regulatory submissions, and interactions with regulatory bodies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Legal, Human Resources, and Operations, to ensure coordinated and effective compliance efforts.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of all compliance activities, investigations, and training programs.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensure: Licensed to practice law in the state of New York.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in healthcare compliance, with a focus on medical laboratory operations. Prior experience as a compliance officer or in a similar regulatory role is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting medical laboratories, including CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and Stark Law.
