Summary:
This position will work as part of a team of attorneys and contract professionals responsible for the drafting, negotiating, and processing of contracts for A Biotechnology Company' North American business units, specifically involving commercial, corporate, and real estate transactions, as well as handling legal disputes pre-litigation and managing outside counsel with formal litigation. This position presents the opportunity for a successful candidate to receive specialized training and to develop skills that open possibilities for a long-term career path within A Biotechnology Company.

Primary Responsibilities for Role:

Draft, review and negotiate contracts, particularly those related to industrial and manufacturing matters, as well as real estate, R & D, and clinical trials.
Draft, review and negotiate the leasing of retail and manufacturing sites.
Lead the management of litigation related to personal injury, real estate, product liability, and other general disputes.
Draft, review, and finalize corporate transactions, corporate governance, and other matters related thereto.
Supervise a paralegal and/or corporate counsel.
Support Deputy General Counsel with transactional matters, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures, and other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, with an excellent ability to issue spot and integrate legal advice with business goals.
Ability to work well in a cross-functional team environment, as well as in a small team environment and become a productive and positive member of the legal team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate concisely.
Effective communication skills necessary to resolve disputes and bring teams together to effectively solve problems and resolve disputes.
Ability to supervise a small team including a paralegal and/or corporate counsel.
Experience in the manufacturing and/or pharmaceutical industry is preferred, candidates must present the skills and aptitude to undertake the preparation and negotiation of complex agreements.

Education:

J.D. from an accredited academic institution required.
Admission to a state bar is required.

Experience:
Typically requires at least 8 years of total experience. A minimum of three (3) years of relevant transactional / general counseling experience in the industrial and/or manufacturing industry, and at least three (3) years of law firm experience related to general litigation is preferred.
