Job Summary:
A Global Leader in Chemicals is seeking a strong, self-motivated attorney to join our global Corporate Governance legal team as its U.S. employment counsel. Located in Houston, Texas the Americas Legal Affairs team supports the U.S. and Canada manufacturing, corporate functions and operations in a wide variety of employment matters, benefits and litigation support.

How You Can Be the Impact
  • Provides strategic legal analysis, advice and counsel on U.S. employment matters to HR and business leaders in support of the business goals of the Company including hiring, disciplinary actions, terminations, workplace investigations, leaves of absence, wage and hour compliance, accommodations, benefits and plan management, policy drafting and interpretation, plant closures/reorganizations/redundancies, compensation matters, hiring practices, basic immigration matters, etc.
  • Ensures compliance with U.S. labor & employment legal principles.
  • Stays abreast of relevant legislation, regulatory changes, and industry guidance that impact SABIC's workforce and takes other proactive steps to mitigate risks.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and disputes. Provides oversight and strategic direction for employment related litigation in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Oversee and conduct training sessions for management and staff on employment law compliance.

What Matters to SABIC
  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience; preference for previous in house experience with multinational manufacturing company
  • Bar qualifications to practice in at least 1 U.S. State
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Experience with managing U.S. employment litigation
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
