An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company provides cutting edge security and performance services to a significant portion of the Internet. Because An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company's network sits in front of so many websites, we regularly receive reports of abuse and legal requests relating to the customers for which we are an intermediary. We're looking for a Senior Counsel to work closely with our Trust & Safety and Public Policy teams in shaping An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company's global approach to intermediary legal issues, our abuse processes, and our responses to criminal and civil requests for customer data.

The ideal candidate is comfortable confronting novel legal issues in a fast paced environment, while never losing sight of An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company's core principles. We're looking for a self-starter who is enthusiastic to work as part of a great team building systems that must scale with a quickly growing company. As part of the job, you will:
  • Work with the Trust & Safety team to further develop playbooks for addressing reports of abuse on An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company's platform, taking into account differences among the various services An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company offers.
  • Assist the Trust & Safety team in identifying abuse reports raising novel issues, and coordinate across the Legal and Policy teams on responses.
  • Provide legal guidance to Trust & Safety to help further develop An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company's policies and procedures for responding to legal requests for information.
  • Communicate with law enforcement, regulators, and civil litigants, and work with An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company's litigation team in opposing unlawful requests in court.
  • Provide advice to product and engineering teams to understand and proactively address new products from a Trust & Safety perspective.
  • Work with the Policy and Trust & Safety teams on communicating to the public about our approach, including through An American Web Infrastructure and Website Security Company's regular transparency reports.
  • Communicate with business leaders across the company about intermediary liability issues, and provide training and resources to address future legal risks.
