This is an excellent in-house opportunity to be part of a successful real estate company located in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, with a footprint in the Southwest. The selected candidate will be the Legal Department's first-chair trial lawyer, responsible for spearheading the litigation docket. Cases typically consist of personal injury, business, and habitability matters. The business cases are 50/50 plaintiff/defense.The position offers a regular workweek, medical benefits, and no billable hour requirement. Responsibilities:
- First chair trial lawyer to leading a team of professionals.
- Engage in pre-litigation dispute resolution efforts.
- Draft pleadings, write motion, take depositions and other related documents.
- Negotiate settlements and mediate disputes.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to develop appropriate strategies for cases.
- Assist with supervising and mentoring other in-house attorneys, paralegals, and administrative assistants.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of legal experience with an insurance defense or eviction prosecution background
- 10+ years of experience as first chair jury trials preferred.
- Member in good standing of the California Bar.
- Combination of law firm and in-house experience a plus.
- Computer literacy with a Microsoft suite of products (Word, Excel, Adobe, Outlook)
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
