A Nonprofit Advocacy and Lobbying Organization works to preserve the constitutional right to trial by jury and to make sure people have a fair chance to seek justice when they are injured by the negligence or misconduct of others - even when it means taking on the most powerful corporations.

A Nonprofit Advocacy and Lobbying Organization is seeing a Staff Attorney for its Exchange department. The Staff Attorney is responsible for developing and updating Litigation Packets, resources focused on topics common in plaintiff trial lawyer's practice and assisting Section and Litigation Group Officers to research and identify litigation trends and case updates. The Staff Attorney tracks ongoing litigation and trends, case law, and regulations and performs research for association members.

Job Duties include:
  • Research and develop Litigation Packets and resources focused on specific subjects and cases commonly handled by association trial lawyer members.
  • Update existing reference materials to reflect changes in statutes, regulations, and case law and to supplement materials with additional court documents, depositions, and other resources.
  • Assist member group Officers to research and provide members with relevant and timely content from open sources, e.g., mainstream media, law reviews, scholarly publications, legal news and reports, medical journals, etc., via A Nonprofit Advocacy and Lobbying Organization Communities and list servers.
  • Identify emerging trends, caselaw, and topics for further discussion and development for CLE and meetings.
  • Research products, manufacturers, and verdicts and settlements for association members.
  • Work closely with member groups to increase contributions to member resource databases.
  • Assist in the development of marketing and other promotional resources highlighting the benefits of Litigation Packets, Sections, and other research tools.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. and active bar license (any jurisdiction) required.
  • One year of legal experience preferred.
  • Journal/Law Review or other editing experience preferred.
  • Legal experience or clerkship preferred.
  • Strong research skills and experience developing written work product based on research.
  • Experience writing, editing and formatting content.
  • Zealous attention to detail.
