Responsibilities & QualificationsSummary of Responsibilities:
- Typically handled complex to high exposure claims and serve as primary contact person and/or claims designee for selected accounts.
- Significant responsibility for decision making and to a high degree works autonomously by confirming liability of claims by reviewing bonds and documents submitted in support of claims. Analyzes liability and communicates liability positions.
- Direct and monitor assignments to experts and outside counsel as well as establish reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes.
- Negotiates and settles claims either directly or indirectly. Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information.
- Provides assistance to underwriters in review of contracts, bond forms, indemnity agreements and other related documents.
- Provided input and coordinates loss information during monthly/quarterly business meetings
- Ensures effective vendor and litigation management on claims with a focus on minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in surety claims
- Oral and written communication skills
- Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
- Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels and functions of the organization.
Preferred Education and Training
- Law degree from an accredited law school.
- Completion of Adjustors license in TX and submit for other state as needed
- Actively licensed in the State where practicing.
