Responsibilities & Qualifications
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Typically handled complex to high exposure claims and serve as primary contact person and/or claims designee for selected accounts.
  • Significant responsibility for decision making and to a high degree works autonomously by confirming liability of claims by reviewing bonds and documents submitted in support of claims. Analyzes liability and communicates liability positions.
  • Direct and monitor assignments to experts and outside counsel as well as establish reserves within authority or makes claim recommendations concerning reserve changes.
  • Negotiates and settles claims either directly or indirectly. Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information.
  • Provides assistance to underwriters in review of contracts, bond forms, indemnity agreements and other related documents.
  • Provided input and coordinates loss information during monthly/quarterly business meetings
  • Ensures effective vendor and litigation management on claims with a focus on minimizing indemnity exposure and mitigating vendor and legal expense

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • 3-5 years of experience in surety claims
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people at all levels and functions of the organization.

Preferred Education and Training
  • Law degree from an accredited law school.
  • Completion of Adjustors license in TX and submit for other state as needed
  • Actively licensed in the State where practicing.
