Position Summary:
The General Counsel and Compliance Officer will serve as the chief legal advisor and compliance leader for An In House Firm. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing strategic legal guidance to support the organization's objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance, with a proven ability to manage complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment.

  • Legal Advisory:
  • Provide legal counsel to the executive team, management, and staff on a wide range of legal issues, including corporate governance, contracts, employment law, and healthcare regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure the organization's interests are protected.
  • Represent An In House Firm in legal proceedings, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation.
  • Compliance Management:
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the organization's compliance program to ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Provide training and education to employees on compliance policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Regulatory Affairs:
  • Monitor and interpret changes in healthcare laws, regulations, and policies that impact the organization.
  • Advise the organization on regulatory requirements and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies and external counsel as needed.
  • Corporate Governance:
  • Support the Board of Directors and executive leadership in corporate governance matters.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, bylaws, and governance standards.
  • Maintain corporate records and documentation.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify potential legal and compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Provide guidance on risk management and insurance coverage.
  • Lead investigations into compliance violations and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Texas.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of legal experience, preferably in the healthcare or dental industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Proven experience in corporate governance, contract negotiation, and regulatory affairs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Up to 25% travel

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a dental service organization or similar healthcare setting.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or similar credential.
