As our first legal hire at A Healthcare AI Communication Company you will work closely with cross-functional teams across A Healthcare AI Communication Company, be a critical part of our core team, and have a huge influence over the direction of the company. We are looking for an experienced lawyer to join our growing team as Legal Counsel. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial transactions and contracts, as well as experience in other areas of law, such as corporate, intellectual property, employment, and healthcare law. We are looking for someone who understands both legal complexities and the dynamic nature of a growth startup.The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the company's leadership team, as well as for drafting and negotiating contracts, building our contracts process, including any technology needs, managing intellectual property, and providing advice on employment matters. The Legal Counsel will report to the Strategy & Operations Lead.

At A Healthcare AI Communication Company you will:
  • Develop and implement the company's legal strategy, which may include work with outside counsel.
  • Provide legal advice and support to the company's leadership team on a wide range of legal matters, including commercial transactions, contracts, corporate law, intellectual property law, employment law, startup law, and strategy.
  • Draft and negotiate contracts, including vendor agreements, sales contracts, BAAs, NDAs, employment agreements and leases.
  • Provide advice on healthcare law matters, such as HIPAA compliance, regulatory compliance, and patient privacy.
  • Provide advice on startup law matters, such as funding, securities law, and corporate governance.
  • Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio, including filing and maintaining patents, trademarks, and copyrights.
  • Provide advice on strategy matters, such as market analysis, competitor analysis, and business development.
  • Stay up-to-date on legal developments in the healthcare industry, the startup ecosystem, and the broader business landscape.

Qualifications:
  • JD from an accredited top law school.
  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in corporate law, with a focus on commercial transactions and contracts.
  • Strong understanding of corporate law, intellectual property law, employment law, and healthcare law.
  • Experience building a legal function at a high-growth startup.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
