What You'll Do:- Partner with internal business teams across the following practice areas: customer contracts/MSAs, user-facing agreements, privacy, security, compliance, and financial regulations.
- Provide commercial and technical expertise to identify legal risk and find innovative solutions to mitigate said risk while pushing the business forward.
- Become a subject matter expert on financial or other federal/state regulations regarding both consumer and business data privacy.
- Negotiate and collaborate with legal, compliance, and business teams at A Company Focused on Democratizing Internet Account Interoperability Through Technology's Fortune 50 customers - primarily major financial institutions and technology companies
- Gain firsthand experience running both substantive legal work as well as the legal and compliance operations of A Company Focused on Democratizing Internet Account Interoperability Through Technology's entire business
- Collaborate with and manage external counsel.
- Build trust and rapport with business stakeholders that move at a rapid pace.
- Stay apprised of new and relevant regulatory developments.
- Note that this role has significant room to grow with the business.
What you'll need to get the job done
- JD degree & current admission to the NY state bar
- 5+ years of combined, relevant legal experience at a law firm or in-house legal department (ideally with at least 2 years consecutively within a recent role).
- Regulatory counseling experience in consumer and business data privacy.
- Familiarity with relevant federal/state financial regulations affecting consumers in the U.S.
- Experience working with or at a fast-growing technology startup.
- High degree of professionalism, poise, and ability to creatively influence external stakeholders (e.g. business/legal/compliance teams at major financial institutions).
- Ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment that is prone to frequent and significant change.
- Desire to become a subject matter expert on all legal matters related to A Company Focused on Democratizing Internet Account Interoperability Through Technology's current and future business, including what is possible to achieve on behalf of consumers with regard to their data portability rights.
