We are seeking a Litigation Counsel to join our team. This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel / Vice President -- Litigation and the Associate General Counsel for Labor and Employment on litigation matters.

What you get to do:
  • Manage general liability matters for the Company which would include developing case strategy, managing outside counsel, issuing legal holds, developing budgets and forecasts, reviewing and approving pleadings, attending depositions and court hearings when appropriate and coordinating discovery on more routine litigation.
  • Assist the Deputy General Counsel with the management of more complex litigation including but not limited to class actions.
  • Assist the Deputy General Counsel with developing, reviewing, recommending and implementing new techniques, policies, and/or procedures aimed at improving the productivity of the legal department.
  • Work closely with the Legal Department, company management and other employees to identify and assess legal risks and advise of risk reduction strategies Company-wide and to provide support, advice, and counsel on a wide range of legal issues and concerns.
  • Assist the Labor and Employment Associate General Counsel with advising the Company on a broad range of federal, state, and local labor and employment law issues and compliance with Title III of the ADA.
  • Advise on general employment matters, conduct investigations and assist in managing employment related disputes including class actions.
  • Manage other projects as required or assigned.

What it Takes to Succeed:
  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with at least one state bar is required.
  • At least 2-5 years' experience working on litigation and counseling matters in either a law firm and/or a corporate legal department is required.
  • Must be familiar with and have a strong knowledge of state and federal laws in multiple states, including California and Florida. A strong background in premises liability issues is preferred, as is some demonstrated experience with employment law defense.
  • Highly polished and effective negotiation, communication and drafting skills, including those suitable for interaction with senior managers and executives.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and experience with online legal research, online document management, e-billing and legal hold systems preferred.
  • Ability to handle significant matters with limited supervision or direction.
  • The successful candidate will have proven experience in working with management in a collaborative environment, providing a professional, practical and business-oriented approach, and successfully managing a diverse and significant case load, resulting in a high level of client service and satisfaction.
